Frigg to release a Christmas album followed by an extensive tour in Finland

Frigg will release its 9th album and start a Christmas tour in Finland including ten concerts at venues from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. The tour will see acclaimed Finnish vocalists Johanna Försti and Timo Rautiainen as Frigg’s soloists. This is the first time for a Finnish folk music act to perform a Christmas tour of such extent.

The repertoire will include old beloved Finnish Christmas carols with new folky arrangements and also brand new songs written by band members of Frigg.

“The project started with a burning desire to bring a genuine, cosy and tuneful alternative to the current Christmas concert market. We wanted to capture the real and down-to-earth Christmas – the atmosphere filled with folk music that belongs to our Christmas memories. Both Johanna and Timo have a strong connection to folk music and that makes them a natural choice as soloists for the project. The tour will be also very special for us as we have never done such an extensive tour in Finland before!”, describes Esko Järvelä, one of the fiddle players of Frigg.

The tour includes ten venues:

Nov 29 Sello Hall, Espoo
Nov 30 Folk Arts Centre, Kaustinen
Dec 1 Raahesali, Raahe
